We are very proud of our company’s owner, Bert Verbakel, who, on 26 April, received a royal honour from the Mayor of Meijerijstad and was appointed a Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau.
Bert has been a busy man all his life. As well as founding and owning L. Verbakel B.V. in 1971, he has always been involved in all sorts of things and is not one to sit still.
For example, Bert was a co-founder and long-standing board member of the KLW Association, an organisation dedicated to classic agricultural machinery with 800 members. He remains closely involved in various activities organised by the association, including the Rural Festival. http://www.klw-vereniging.nl/
In addition, Bert is the founder, owner and a passionate tour guide at the Hoeve Strobol museum in Nijnsel. For many years, he has been working alongside numerous volunteers to ensure visitors have a wonderful day by giving guided tours of the museum of traditional crafts. Bert also helps organise the children’s baking project at his museum. All Year 4 classes from the former municipality of Sint-Oedenrode will then get to see how bread used to be made. http://www.hoevestrobol.nl/kinderbak-project-2017/
Bert has been a volunteer at the Parish of St Oda in Nijnsel for many years. Among other things, Bert has been involved in the construction of St Anthony’s Chapel, the restoration of St Anthony of Padua’s Church, and the renovation and landscaping of the Procession Park. In the late 1980s, Bert was a board member of the carnival society De Heikneuters in Nijnsel. Bert was one of the founders of the Nijnselse Bonte Avonden.
Former co-founder and chair of the De Zandhoef Neighbourhood Association in Nijnsel.
